Douglas and I were so fortunate to work with Anna and Chris on their April wedding. They were such a fun couple- just look at the photos 🙂 We had a wonderful day capturing their day with video and photography. We started the day out with a few getting ready pictures, a first meet between the bride and groom then we were off to shoot romantic portraits and bridal party portraits on the beach. Since the portraits were early in the day we chose the Nags Head Fishing Pier. It gave us shade and added another element to our pictures. Thankfully the tide lined up perfectly with our time frame and the photos came out fantastic. As we were shooting the romantic portraits a heavy fog bank rolled in. At one point it was so thick that I was afraid we may not be able to continue. It all worked out and it really added some mystery and romanticism to the pictures. It was great to get the bulk amount of photos done before the wedding. After the ceremony we were able to get some beautiful romantic pictures on the docks as well as get the family photos done. This allowed everyone to get to all the fun festivities quicker than if the full photo session was after the ceremony. The reception was wonderful. There was great food, fun, and lots of dancing. The evening was beautiful!
I asked Anna to write a little bit about her wedding so we could share the details with you.

I was born in Russia and came to the Outer Banks in America when I was. Here comes OBX:). I spent 5 lovely years there. I had to move further in land (Currituck ) to get my nursing degree. I met Chris in Virginia beach in a night club. He came to Virginia beach for a vacation and I went there for my spring break. We both felt that there was something special between us. We wound up in a distance relationship for 8 months while I was in nursing school. Chris was patiently waited. On the day of my finals I packed everything in my car and moved to Fairfax, Virginia (2013). Chris proposed to me later that year on 11/12/13.
I chose turquoise for our wedding color. The reason for the color choice was that I love the ocean and turquoise. And I wanted to incorporate those colors into my wedding theme.
I made the entire wedding theme and items all by myself. I made the little books for the guests to sign. I also made the book with my childhood pictures. These are especially important to me. By the way, I got the idea to use childhood pictures from your wedding guide :))). Plus, knowing that nobody from my family could attend the wedding made it extremely important to make that book. Also, my lovely grandmother couldn’t make it to my wedding (she passed away several years ago), so I made sure that her picture was in the book and I kept her in my spirits all the way through the wedding.
Chris’ mother (Connie) embroidered the date and location on our table cloth. It was wonderful.
The moment that made me happiest was that Chris’ entire family was able to attend. Moments that made me sad, my mother couldn’t make it but she saw the entire ceremony through Skype.
I just want to tell everyone thanks for all their help with putting together the wedding. Great team work!
Also, a special thank you to our guardian photographer Michelle!:)
